Mothers and Daughters

My momma is coming this morning for a visit. She is staying until Dec 30 - 12 days!!! I have to get my butt to the airport this morning to get her this morning at 8:22. Of course that means that I have drive through morning rush (what the hell was I thinking when I booked that flight??? - oh yeah now I remember it was ony $109 vs $450 at that time of the morning).

So what is it about Mom's that make us feel like we are 16 all the time. Here I am a 48 year old woman and sometimes I feel like a child around my Mom. I love her dearly and I am sooooo very excited to see her but at the same time, I am just a little stressed.

I wonder if I do that to my daughter too? Mothers are incredibly able to instill guilt for any imagined little thing, not even meaning to most of the time.

In any event, I can't wait for her to meet Bella - I think it is amazing being a grandma. I wonder what she thinks about being a great grandma??? We are calling her Grandnan. A 4 generation picture is on the books for this visit.

And Miss Bella is already 3 months old! This will be a memorable Christmas.

A first visit to Santa

Well tonight was an important night - it was Miss Isabelle's first visit to see Santa. I was less than impressed with the Santa and how things were done and I took a better shot than the professional. But Bella was beautiful in her little gingerbread outfit and she didn't cry at all. Of course she just woke up so she looks a little dazed but once we got her back from the big old elf - she was smiling up a storm!!!!

Only 10 more days - and I am not ready - worse only 3 more days til my Momma gets here and I am soooooo not ready - oh well she loves me anyway.

7 Random Facts About Me

A friend, Kim, tagged me in her blog to tell you seven wierd or random facts about me. She has a personal blog but she also has a great blog called 21 Days to Change the world - check out my profile to link to it!!! Great Job Kim in giving us wonderful ideas!!!

So 7 deadly sins about me (oops I mean wierd or random facts)...

1. I do NOT like WHITE food!!! Okay some people don't like vegetables, some people don't like meat - I just don't like white except for milk and cauliflower. But I am learning

2. I love to play Poker - Texas Hold Em' and regularly play in tournaments with some friends. Last month I won the Inaugural Dave Wilson Memorial Hold Em Trophy - but you already know that if you read my blog - and well you must if you are reading this

3. I am a published poet. This is very strange since most of my work is NEVER read by anyone but me. I am very private and shy about my creative endeavours. This blog is a bit of a challenge for me to overcome that.

4. I believe in a combination of traditional Western, traditional Eastern and natural medicines. Because I am in tune with my inner workings, I know what works for me - it is part of my essence of life that I give thanks for those who help me in these healing arts. Jenn you saved my life my friend or at the very least helped me save it myself! Blessings to you always!

5. I am known to some friends in another circle and another time of my life as NaTasha or Ice Ice Baby and it has NOTHING to do with Vanilla Ice!

6. I love Canadian Rock music - especially from the 70s and 80s and especially guitar rock - and oh there is just something about a Kramer - again days gone by...

7. I absolutely am totally head over heels about Bulldozers - yes Bulldozers - especially CATs!!! I even have a bulldozer tattoo on my ankle. I found a website about bulldozer racing - I HAVE to go see this happen sometime. If I could afford to buy one toy - it would be my very own CAT and I would learn how to drive it and do a little racing myself!!

I now tag Kelly!

6. My favourite

The end of the road...literally...

for my son's 1998 White Neon. Firstly, the police wanted to talk to him because he owned a white neon and this was the colour and make of the car involved in that tragic hit and run over Guelph way on Thanksgiving weekend.

Not one week later, and whilst he was housesitting for me this past weekend, his car was stolen from the garage of his apt building. He didn't even know until the police called him on Sunday to tell him they recovered it. Steering column totally busted and ignition ruined and the transmission and likely the clutch gone.

Poor guy had taken it off the road for the winter because it needed some other work done so guess what - no insurance! He only paid $2000 for it and it woul dhave cost likely in the neighbourhood of $4000 to $5000 to fix it but still it hurts...

He is doing okay with it - although tonight we went and removed everything from it so it could be towed away to the wreckers. You know what the worst thing is - he had to pay to get it out of the police impound yard - can you believe that - the poor kid has his car stolen and he has to pay!!!! There isn't much chance they will find the people who did it but they are trying... yeah right!
